Technology: a real game changer for cancer care?
A digital model of cancer care
Here is an experience that truly catches the attention and gives hope for people living with cancer. Digitization went a step further with an innovative partnership between Careology and Lloyds Pharmacy Clinical Homecare.
The principle? Digitizing and mustering all health-related data to enhance cancer care delivery for more than 80,000 patients across the UK. Patients, nursing staff, physicians can use a game-changing app to manage home-delivered care. In Careology CEO Paul Landau’s words:
This hybrid model of homecare and digital cancer care is truly transformative; we expect to demonstrate that it creates capacity and is also cost-effective, reducing drug wastage and unexpected acute hospital admissions
A model that is recommended by cancer charities, this offers the potential of a less disruptive life for patients and enable them to receive care in a more relaxing environment. Lloyds PCH Deputy Head of Nursing Joanne Upton summarises the expected results of the programme:
We believe that having chemotherapy, delivered one-on-one by an experienced nurse in the comfort of your own home, coupled with the enhanced care and safety the platform provides, would make such a difference to our patients’ lives.
